[ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ]

  • Yes! The online practice is here to ensure we can work together from anywhere you are. Just to note, English is the only language I speak.

  • It depends upon your individual problem(s), how well you respond to the therapy + many other factors. Sometimes a single session only is all that’s needed. For deep-rooted + layered emotional issues, several sessions may be required. Whilst RTT® isn't a magical process, it can help you create positive change in a relatively short period of time.

  • Hypnosis involves an altered state of consciousness characterised by focused attention + heightened suggestibility. Scientifically, neuroimaging studies like fMRI + EEG reveal changes in brain activity during hypnosis, indicating altered neural connectivity. While the exact mechanisms are still under exploration, research suggests that hypnosis influences both psychological + neurological aspects, contributing to its therapeutic effects.

  • The intention is that any desired change should be permanent, e.g. smokers who wish to stop smoking will it to be permanent. Hypnotherapists want you to have a happy, independent life + not remain dependent on further sessions. However; no therapist can predict or control what happens in your life after you have completed your session(s).

Let’s use smoking as an example:

    • you were born a non-smoker + you chose to start smoking

    • you chose to quit using hypnosis + stop smoking

    • 3 years later you lose your job + feel like a failure + choose to start smoking again.

The hypnotherapy was working fine until you chose to ignore it.

The hypnotherapy had not stopped working, you made the choice to become a smoker again.

  • Yes, online hypnotherapy/RTT® can be as effective as in-person sessions for many people. Research suggests that online sessions are successful in addressing issues + conditions such as anxiety and stress. The convenience of online sessions, coupled with advancements in virtual platforms, like Zoom make it possible for you to access therapy online wherever you are with a good Wi-Fi connection + a quiet space to talk.

  • Not at all, you will be very much in control. You’ll be aware of what’s happening + will recall what you experienced. At times your mind can wonder off, just like it does naturally everyday when you become distracted or when you remember something interesting + lose track of what you’re doing in the here + now.

  • Yes. Hypnosis (or trance state) is a natural state of mind that you enter willingly + you remain fully in control of your actions during the session. Hypnosis cannot make you do anything you don’t want to do.

Hypnotherapy is generally considered safe when conducted by a trained + qualified professional. Each session usually includes positive talk therapy, allowing you to reflect on your progress, goals or changes in a beneficial way, providing positive suggestions to your subconscious mind for beneficial change as you relax.

  • No. You can’t get stuck in a trance; it’s like being in a deep daydream + you can come out at any time – even during therapy.

If we lose connection during an online session, we can simply carry on once we re-connect.

  • No, not everyone can be hypnotised to the same degree, as hypnotisability is a trait that varies among individuals, with some 10% to 20% of people being less receptive. However, most people can benefit from hypnosis, even if they aren't highly hypnotisable + misconceptions about control, willpower, or anxiety can hinder the process.
